The Houston Rockets are set up well at point guard for 2010-11
The Rockets will have the same pair of talented point guards in 2010-11. 25-year old Aaron Brooks will be the starter. He played in 82 games (all starts) last season for the Rockets and he averaged 35.6 minutes, 19.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Brooks has now played in 213 games (117 starts) in his three years with the Rockets and he has averaged 25.9 minutes, 13.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. With Yao Ming back and the Rockets having Kevin Martin all year Brooks might see a slight drop in scoring with a bump in assists.
The Rockets showed 24-year old point guard Kyle Lowry the money as the Cavaliers signed him to a big offer sheet over the off-season. The Rockets were smart to keep Lowry who is a good all-around basketball player. Lowry played in 68 games (0 starts) for the Rockets last season and he averaged 24.3 minutes, 9.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He has now played in 237 games (30 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 23.6 minutes, 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
