The Rockets have also acquired rookies Sean Singletary and Patrick Ewing Jr. from the Kings in the Ron Artest deal just sweetening the pot more. Both were 2nd round picks this June (#42, #43). Singletary is a combo guard who can handle either position. He played in 123 games (all starts) at Virginia and he averaged 16.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. The Rockets like him and think that he can help them down the road. Patrick Ewing Jr. is nowhere near the player his papa was. Ewing played in 127 games (26 starts) in his career at Georgetown and Indiana and he averaged 4.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Don’t look for Ewing to get off of the bench much in Houston if he even makes the team. Still, it was good to get a couple of young players in addition to Ron Artest from the Kings.
