The Rockets have signed G/F Bobby Jones to a 10-day contract. Jones has played in 32 games (2 starts) this season for the Nuggets and Grizzlies. In those games Jones has averaged 10.8 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Jones has hit 41.1% from the floor and 83.8% from the free throw line this season. Jones has now played in 76 games (7 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 8.9 minutes, 3.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He has hit 43.7% of his shots from the floor and 69.2% of his free throw shots in his career. Jones should help the Rockets if he gets some playing time.

Luther Head led the way for the Rockets with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in only 26 minutes. Luis Scola pitched in with 14 points and 2 rebounds. The Houston Rockets lose Yao Ming for the remainder of the season

Yao Ming will miss the rest of the season for the Houston Rockets after it was found that he has a stress fracture in his foot. This will really hurt the Rockets as Yao has been the best player on the team by far. He played in 55 games this season (all starts) and he averaged 37.2 minutes, 22.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game. He also shot the ball well as he hit 50.7% of his shots from the floor and 80.5% from the free throw line. The Rockets will likely either move rookie power forward Luis Scola over to center or they will start Dikembe Mutombo. Either way it’s a huge dropoff.

Yao has now played in 404 games (394 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 32.5 minutes, 19.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game. Yao has now made 52% of his shots from the floor and 82.6% of his shots from the free throw line.

The Rockets have waived Adam Haluska. Haluska was just acquired Thursday afternoon by the Rockets but they just didn’t have enough room to carry him on the roster. He might get another chance with some team either later this season or next year.
