The Houston Rockets re-sign power forward Chuck Hayes
The Rockets have re-signed power forward Chuck Hayes to a 4-year contract. He played in 78 games (43 starts) for the Rockets last season and he averaged 22.0 minutes, 5.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He shot 57.3% from the floor and 61.8% from the free throw line last season. Hayes earned his new contract based on his play after the Rockets moved him into the starting lineup over Juwan Howard and he looks like he will only get better as a player with time.
Hayes has now played in 118 games (43 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 19.1 minutes, 5.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He has shot 57% from the floor and 62.7% from the free throw line over his career. He must improve his shooting percentage as he winds up at the line quite a bit with most of his game being around the basket.
